#team18 rider Grant has been putting in the miles, including plenty of virtual ones on the turbo. Here's a little update on how his winter's going.
"I'm aware that all of my recent posts are focused upon training, but I guess that's due to the time of year.
Base phase complete
I've just finished the base phase of my training for the upcoming year and wanted to make a few notes. Firstly, my latest FTP test came out at 310 watts, which is great as exceeding 300 watts was one of my goals for the season. Hopefully I can push that a little higher as I move into a build phase.

Some other things that I think have happened, but I don't have such concrete numerical data for:
- Leg speed. This was another training goal of mine, my comfortable cadence is now up near 95 rpm. Hopefully this will translate into needing less food on the bike.
- Pedalling form. It still requires more work, but I'm mashing the pedals less and have developed some ability to kick and pull.
- Positioning. Whilst on the turbo I've been spending some time working on a more aero position. Again it needs more work, but it has definitely improved.
Next up is setting myself some SMART goals for my build phase."
