ROHLOFF
manufacturers of the legendary "Speedhub"
Following on from the link up with Nicolai- we're building up a Nicolai Helius CC with a Rohloff Speedhub to see what all this hype's about!
Think back to those old Sturmey 3-speed hubs we've all seen, but in a burlier, disc friendly, more geared version! The speedhub takes all of those awkward poky-out gear bits and hides them in the middle of the hub, away from muck, grit, branches and the likes.
You may think that 14 gears is less than the 27 you might be used to, but think of how many of those are replicated and you find that you have........14 distinct gears! The Rohloff spreads these evenly across the ratios, so no unusual leaps either.
The twist shifter takes care of gear changing, there might be a trigger in the future, we just can't say....
There are a few special requirements (which Nicolai frames take care of) - but a Speedhub can be retrofitted to most frames. It's best to speak to us about this- get in touch and we can talk through the various options!
